It has been nearly a year since the last release. I'm opening this separate thread so we can discuss the upcoming release (#6659) together.
Here is an initial thought from my side: would it be better to release a patch/interim version first (perhaps v0.5.4) without any breaking changes? This would allow us to ship important fixes (e.g., #6439, #6454,#6455,#6534) quickly with minimal impact. Otherwise, having to maintain workarounds in so many places is getting quite painful (e.g.,ScoopInstaller/Main#8290 (comment)). And we need more time to handle these breaking changes (e.g., ScoopInstaller/Main#7965).
By the way, we still have several major long-standing bugs (e.g., #5683) that remain unfixed, and I'm not sure if the maintainers are aware of them.
