Or atleast it seems to be so, ticking this just doesn't change anything.
I suppose it should display a video instead of one and the same image

(sorry, this is all i can provide, unable to record a video)
I unzipped the launcher onto my desktop as soon as I opened the zip.
Maybe there's some dependencies/requirements for it to work?

Interesting. It plays on my machine, so it hasn't been removed. (I've been basically hands-off since I changed jobs a little over a year ago.) Internally, it uses WPF's media framework to decode a Windows Media video (because I wanted a format whose dependencies were shipped built-in to Windows for as long as possible). Are you able to play .wmv videos on that machine?

It's been a while, but I believe that videos do not work if Visual Themes and Desktop Composition ("Aero" back in the Vista/7 days) are disabled. I think that the window shadows are also disabled at the same time. Do you see window shadows? If you move the window over something white, you should see a faint grey blur.

The window is working just fine, but you're right, those wmv videos fail to play with 0x800705aa error code in Windows video player when I downloaded them just now. Though the "dere" one previously played successfully (not in the launcher itself) before I opened this issue.

I still didn't manage to find a solution for that .wmv problem. Is it possible for you to use .mp4 instead (or both depending on which one fails)? Those most likely shouldn't have any issue for Windows users.
