How do I add an item model NBT to my item

Hi, I have a problem lately. I don't know how to add an item model to my custom item and I don't even know if it is possible or not.
Here is the code I use: give {item::phone} with nbt from "{""minecraft:item_model"":resoucepacks:phone}" to player
Also, If adding an item model is possible, Could you just add it when defining the custom items?
