so as per title when running wayland the text and ui elements in general look terrible, they are barely legible

@mindtheegab, can you specify (or ideally, provide a visual example of) what you refer to? I ask because it doesn't appear to be that way for me:
However, the text rendering is obviously custom, because it doesn't quite adhere to kcm_fonts' anti-aliasing preferences, nor its font selection.

Relevantly, I'm using https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org//packages/kwin/6.0.4.1/1.fc40/x86_64/kwin-wayland-6.0.4.1-1.fc40.x86_64.rpm.
