I think there should be a setting you can toggle on in any of the keyboard, drum key views that makes the top or bottom rows show steps like you would get in the normal grid sequencer. You can then press a key or keys, then press a step and it will set those notes for that step. Or use external midi input. You can then make the step longer like you would normally make a step longer, or set any parameter locks by holding the step. When holding a step, the notes should highlight on the keyboard or drum layout. Zoom and normal navigation controls all work the same as in grid sequencing. Look to Elektron boxes, Ableton move, or Drambo for an example of how this works. |

It would be really cool if you could make a step input with an external MIDI keyboard, for example like the step input in Arturia Microbrute or similar hardware devices. You simply set SEQ REC, type in your notes with your external MIDI keyboard and have your melody, for example. Especially for people who love step recordings like me, I think it's a cool idea.
