The term "resolution" gets thrown around quite a bit in the context of DAPs:

  1. DID resolution
  2. DAP resolution
  3. a DAP registry's resolution endpoint

(1) and (2) are made distinct by "what's" being resolved e.g. "DAP" or "DID". However, DAP resolution itself is a bit ambiguous. Is DAP resolution considered as going from:

  • DAP -> DID ?
  • DAP -> DID Document?
  • DAP -> list of money addresses?

instinctively i tend to think it's the last one because that's ultimately what i'm after when thinking "how do i pay this DAP?"

we can reduce some of this confusion by calling the DAP registry's resolution endpoint dereferencing instead of resolving.

Concretely, the proposal is to call the act of DAP Handle -> DID via a registry dereferencing. would be curious to hear what others think
