Limit broadcasting to other peers

Hi, 
We are testing this network-module and as far as we can tell, all broadcasted messages are sent to every peer, therefore the messenger also receives the message. We see no point in our own messages, and we were wondering how we might alter the program to stop this behavior or why it might be a good idea to keep it?
