Talk guidelines

Please have these guidelines in mind when preparing your presentation.

Template

  • Please prepare your presentation using the following template: Presentation template
  • If you hesistate to use Google docs for personal/data protection issues, please feel free to use a different software. We anyway need a pdf version for the final submission.

Structure

  • Please do not use more than 10-15 slides.
  • The final talk may be structured like this (see an example presentation):
    1. Title: Project name, student name, advisor name
    2. Motivation
    3. Research gap
    4. Problem statement
    5. System and design goals
    6. Outline
    7. Overview
    8. Design
    9. Implementation
    10. Evaluation
    11. Conclusion
  • In general, "less is more". We like simple and clean slides. Please prepare properly!

Length

  • Please prepare your talk for at most 15 mins. This time limit will be strictly enforced.
  • In addition, please allocate 5 mins for Q&A and discussion.
  • The total time should not exceed 20 mins.

Schedule

  • Please contact your advisor to schedule the final presentation after submitting your thesis/report.
