Hi! Hope you´re all fine.

I converted my .fas file to a .nex file using http://phylogeny.lirmm.fr/phylo_cgi/data_converter.cgi. The .nex file worked normally using BEAST 1.10.4, but when i try the BEAST 2, the error "unsupported alignment file" appears.
How can i deal with it?

I tried it and it worked for me (using BEAST v2.7.6). You have to make sure to save the file (or rename it) such that the file extension is ".nex" and not ".cgi" or ".txt" which were the defaults my browser wanted to use.

You have to make sure that the file extension is .nex and that there is no extra hidden second extension (e.g. .txt or .cgi, which could be added on by your browser and not displayed in your file explorer). I tried it with a fasta file and BEAST v2.7.6 on MacOS and it worked without any problems.

  • If the problem is that the lirmm tool doesn't produce a correct NEXUS file, then you should contact the developers of that tool
  • If the file is correct and BEAST2 is not able to load the file then please contact the BEAST2 developers on beast2.org.
