Checklist

  • I made sure that there are no existing issues - open or closed - which I could contribute my information to.
  • I have read the FAQ and my problem isn't listed.
  • I'm aware that this is a request for NewPipe itself and that requests for adding a new service need to be made at NewPipeExtractor.
  • I have taken the time to fill in all the required details. I understand that the feature request will be dismissed otherwise.
  • This issue contains only one feature request.
  • I have read and understood the contribution guidelines.

Feature description

This feature would add an additional option for simply copying a video or channel (or any other) link (to the clipboard).

Why do you want this feature?

This feature would free the use from having to use the "share with" option as "share with" leads to android loading some apps in the background (which subsequently keep running and have to be terminated manually from the apps section of the android settings) even if they are not chosen as the app one wants to share the link with, which is a highly annoying behavior of android. Also, it would eliminate the step of searching for an app in the pop-up list and selecting it (if it isn't missing from that list) and thus speed up the workflow quite a bit.

Additional information

There are some "add option for copying download link" issues (open and closed) but I'm just asking for copying the "normal" link, that is otherwise passed on with the "share with" option.

Is this true even for newer Android versions? This seems like the sort of behaviour that should have been fixed by now.

This could be solved in a way with #10299.

I don't know. My devices are on 7.1 and 9, respectively.
Also, some annoying behaviors are considered features / improvements by their respective devs. Not sure it this one falls into that category.

Reads more like what I explicitly don't want (= incorporated into "share with" feature).
Also, I was thinking of the download button / the context menu that shows up when long-tapping on a result in search or a video list (e.g. of "what's new) as the place to add this option.
