Checklist

  • I made sure that there are no existing issues - open or closed - which I could contribute my information to.
  • I have read the FAQ and my problem isn't listed.
  • I'm aware that this is a request for NewPipe itself and that requests for adding a new service need to be made at NewPipeExtractor.
  • I have taken the time to fill in all the required details. I understand that the feature request will be dismissed otherwise.
  • This issue contains only one feature request.
  • I have read and understood the contribution guidelines.

Feature description

Please add some way to save still frames of the current video (e.g when the video is paused). At present the only (dirty) way is using the phone screenshot feature, but results in a lot of unwanted graphics of course

Why do you want this feature?

Because any video player imho is expected to provide a screenshot (i.e save current frame) feature

Just press power button + volume down. This will screenshot the current screen without any "unwanted graphics". An extra software button just takes up unnecessary space in an already busy UI.

Sorry eh, volume down + power button is a phone feature, not a newpipe feature, which takes the screenshot of what is on display. I was of course referring to a newpipe feature to capture the current frame without anything overlaid, in particular if you paused playback to locate a particular frame. Every video player I am aware of, i.e vlc, can save single frames. I don't see why newpipe should miss this basic feature. I know already I can take phone screenshots lol but that is not like saving frames ;)

Ok, I think you should edit your feature request so it is clear what you are looking for. Because "some way to take screenshots of the current video" is already there.
