Steps to Reproduce

Always happens.
CAUTION this might BRICK your pc! Close all other programs if you don't want to risk losing data!!!
My pc hard froze when testing yesterday and I had to keep pressing+hold the shutdown button on the mainboard to force my pc off entirely because nothing in software would clear my exploded RAM load. Screen will go black and only your mouse cursor will be visible, but no program will work, Operating System will not respond.

  1. Download RLCraft version 2.9.3 (latest as of April 19th 2025)
  2. Allow Profile content management and add The Aether 1.5.4.1
  3. Click Play
  4. Open your Task Manager. After the "Ding!" in Main Menu plays, the memory will keep increasing. My latest observations was 16 Gigabyte of RAM and my screen froze. I had other observations with 24 GB of RAM though.
It will increase rapidly, be ready to kill the process immediately to avoid system outage.

What You Expect To Happen

Game runs and memory stays stable. Maybe like 6 GB of RAM? Allocated are 9.6 GB of RAM. Not... 16?

What Actually Happened

RAM keeps loading, loading, loading more data until it is completely out of space. System will start to stutter or stop responding, if you're lucky Minecraft will freeze and stop loading more data, otherwise your system will crash inevitably if you don't force shutdown the modpack.

Additional Details

The Aether is not a part of RLCraft itself thus not supported by Shivaxi. I am reporting this because of a high risk of corrupting data/systems in combination with other mods.
I haven't tested older versions of this mod but this is the only added mod that causes that high leakage in RLCraft. I clean tested it. Hope you can reproduce (without system outages though).

  • I have confirmed that I'm reporting a bug in The Aether I, not The Aether II.
