[esc] or [tab] for shutdown does not work

hi again,
the screenshot shows the esc key and my bootx64.efi displays tab key : neither of these two keys has the desired effect (eg. shutdown - note that I'm trying from qemu).
the advanced shutdown entry in the menu is functional.
