Bluetooth trackpad doesn't work

I'm using a PHH GSI (CrDroid 12.0-Beta), when I connect my bluetooth keyboard case, the keyboard works fine, but the trackpad no. I tested with other PHH roms but it didn't work with any of them, and my tablet (SM-T735) bootloop with GSIs that are not PHH. The trackpad just works fine on the stock rom

I'm sure this is a known issue for everyone (its not a specific device issue). I tested this as not working for me as well. (I use a different ROM that uses the phh GSI patches and not this one directly.)

• It seems to not be getting attached to the pointer.

• BT sees it as an input device so what the system needs from the attached device seems to be present.

• The trackpad clicks work for me, so its obviously working.

• Tested as fully working on a manufacturer official ROM.

• Via USB also makes no difference so its not BT directly either.

Additional Edits:

/system/usr/idc contains a different vendor file for the device I'm testing with. Technically, this one has one, whereas the official ROM only has one for an older model. In theory its a possible reason. The idc files seems to be used by AOSP to help setup or help solve input devices for touchpad use. Unsure how various Android versions are affected by use of them. https://source.android.com/docs/core/interaction/input/input-device-configuration-files And a hands to face for read only location.

• It also might not solve it at all. However, according to https://source.android.com/docs/core/interaction/input/touch-devices it should probably be expected to work here. No config file results in a default being used which is what happens when it works on the official ROM in my testing. A wrong config file can result in not being attached (bringing up) to the mouse pointer while having some other parts work like the clicks.

• In my case, I've found no ability to remount as rw (that could be the ROM I use so may not apply directly here, not sure). That actually works - it all failed. So, may need to add to the ROM img, and attempt that way. Its low chance if I will try this as am not wanting to deal with anything going wrong.

• If having a new enough kernel, may be able to use kernelsu and gain ability that way. I can't test this as my device doesn't use GKI and has no public kernel source available to build from source for older kernels. Not spending more time on dealing with su.

• If it changes per Android major version or manufacturers do something, idk at this time. Will keep an eye on it.

I don't really know what phhusson can really do here as its per input device and fault is Google put this stuff behind security in a bad way (when they locked down system files, etc). Something like a system app that can write there and import, edit, delete for the user I'd expect could work as a built in way. Maybe adding to the treble app - it should be fairly quick to add to that I think but haven't looked at it.

If there's something else it could be, I didn't see anything.
