Representation of crops in WRF-SUEWS

I just had a quick discussion with Sue. How can we put the crop representation in SUEWS?
There are two main challenges here:

• When mapping original LC from wrfinput to SUEWS, we lump everything to Grass. So how can we get this information?

• The Coupled SUEWS version is not the newest one, and if we want to upgrade to the newest one for crop representation, we would have to do some development in the couple system.

what information specific to crop is required to be added into SUEWS?
We need a list of such properties that are missing in the current SUEWS.

This eventually needs to be done; what amount of work do you estimate given we have the automated workflow you set up last year?

Well, the crop uses a new LAI model (from the SUEWS_parameter paper). so SUEWs need to be developed to capture this model (I think you did developed the crop part before, not sure) with new sets of parameters if we want to capture this. Meaning that a new land cover type should be added probably.

This eventually needs to be done; what amount of work do you estimate given we have the automated workflow you set up last year?

It would consist of making sure the new version of SUEWS interface matches the interface of WRF-SUEWS and update all the input pre processors to be consistent with it.
