The VictoriaTraces proof of concept started with Jaeger v1 remote storage, but as it's deprecated, the team decided to wait until the remote storage of Jaeger v2 is available.
Jaeger implemented it: jaegertracing/jaeger#5334
It's time to add integration and provide support for such.
