Microphone always muted Phaser360 LMDE 6 #130

Describe the bug
After running the audio script and rebooting, the microphone is kind of detected, but the volume label is muted and grayed out.

In KDE, the microphone could be made to work after switching to Pro audio, but there is no such option in Cinnamon.
