I got here from a link without much context, and I can't quickly tell what this project is about.

The repo description could be more detailed. Thanks!

Hi Dan,

Just out of interest where was the link?

I'm currently rewriting the project anyway, so I'll make sure to spend some time on the readme/description.

To answer your question, Woodhouse is a bot written in Node that allows you to automate tasks or call APIs through plugins. As an example, one of the things I use Woodhouse for is to control the lamps around my house through the woodhouse-plugin-kankun-plug plugin. It can be hooked up to a few different chat services to allow you to communicate with it, I primarily use Google hangouts through xmpp, but I've written interfaces for slack and hipchat too.

Hopefully that answers your question.

I found the link in an internal thread here at Google.
