'Referenced' contains the list of curated objects and it may be easier to get the count from there.

'Referenced' and the tree view are both reading data from the same API, but it is a different API endpoint than the one used by Wormicloud! This is the correct one: https://wormbase.org/rest/widget/paper/" + paper_id + "/referenced.

It seems that the aforementioned endpoint filters out genes added by the AFP from the counts...
