Text between two answers is colored as if it is part of answer text in KUL new style/formating

In the firstSteps repo, in the aFirstActivity.tex, there is a problem with two answer boxes and text in the middle:

\]

Here we can see that the \text{ and line } should be typeset as normal text, not as part of the answer. But in the pdf it is colored blue to suggest it is also part of the student submitted answer, which is misleading to a content author verifying work in the pdf. This is almost certainly some kind of scope issue in the coloring of the answer content.
