The keyboard layout icon should show up automatically when multiple layout has been added. Because I use En and Bn, so I should know which one is selected at the moment, I had to add it manually but in Ubuntu it shows automatically but not in Xubuntu.

I assume that the easiest solution would be to add the "Keyboard Layouts" panel plugin to the default configuration, and therefore make it always visible.
