A - As of now, Evolved is being developed for 1.16.5 Forge. There will be at least one backport to 1.12.2 Forge. A version for Fabric has been talked about, but it is not set in stone yet. (The mod will not be Fabric exclusive, and we apologize for this outdated information.)
Q - Will every animal from Rebuilt be added to Evolved?
A - Eventually! We have all new rosters we are working on that will bring you new animals that have never been in ZAWA, as well as a good mix of our original rosters. It's a good balance we are sure you'll love!
Q - Why is Evolved development taking so long?
A - A big part of Evolved is a much more consistent art direction, and a higher standard of quality for the models and textures. Some existing assets need a lot more love than others; and for the sake of getting a big, fun first release out, they need some more time.
Q - Can you add [x enrichment], [y plant], [z decoration]?
A - Probably not. However, you are welcome to talk ideas, with reference pictures and reasons you think it should be in the mod.
If you'd like the enrichment item, decoration, or plant of your dreams in the mod, you could also enter official contests run through our discord! First prize is almost always something like that.
Q - Can you add [animal suggestion]?
A - Like Rebuilt, Evolved has pre-set rosters and we do not take requests. You can always ask an addon maker to add it, or make your own!
Q - Can anyone make an Evolved addon?
A - Of course! However, you will not get early access to Evolved's code or roster plans, and the ZAWA team will not accommodate your plans, so plan accordingly.
We have style guides written out (links in this channel) to help your addon match ZAWA, if you would like to use them! The most successful addons don't have too many animals and follow similar (unofficial) rules such as: no domestic animals, no hybrids, and nothing too similar to existing ZAWA roster animals.
Q - ZAWA announced an animal I wanted to put in my addon/in another mod!
A - This is bound to happen. Evolved's roster has been around since Rebuilt's 2.0 was out (some parts around earlier), and we can't completely change our roster by cutting or moving animals around simply because of other mods.
Q - What programs does the ZAWA team use for making models and textures?
A - The team uses Tabula for making animal models, Blockbench for blocks, and a variety of image editors for textures (such as gimp, krita, and clip studio). Any program that can open layers, export transparent images and has a 1-pixel brush will work for pixel art.
Q - ZAWA is broken, my animals keep dying, they won't move around, etc.
A - As of 11/14/2020, ZAWA: Rebuilt will no longer be seeing updates or bug fixes. The team has moved on to the next version of the mod; ZAWA: Evolved. If you are having serious issues with Rebuilt, you are allowed to ask questions and ask for workarounds, but please know that they will unfortunately not be fixed.
We recommend disabling the enrichment, hunger, and thirst modules via the config to avoid unnecessary loss.
Q - Help! Poachers (or other animals) are spawning too much!
A - If you are having issues with the Poacher mob spawning in excess (or other mobs spawning too much), REMOVE CUSTOM MOB SPAWNER. Even if you are using Mo' Creatures, CMS is NOT needed and tends to break spawning mechanics for other entities.
Q - My game crashed!
A - First, check if you have the ZAWA addon Natural Fauna. This mod is incompatible with Rebuilt versions 2.1 and newer (the "egg update" with new bird and reptile models). We cannot fix this, so remove it or downgrade your ZAWA version.
If that is not the cause of your crash, you are welcome to paste your crash report into http://hastebin.com/, save it, and share the link with us. Someone might be able to help!
