"New tiles" is a bit vague though :) What I see as a priority for the graphics would be to make some good powerup icons; I drew the current ones myself as placeholders, and some are pretty lousy (like the speed up/speed down powerups). Even the background of the powerup tiles was initially meant as a placeholder, so if you have better ideas, feel free to make proposals :) Then a new tileset could indeed be cool; I'd like to have something dungeon-themed to match the random name that I gave to this game ;) The current tileset could also have a couple more tiles for destructible objects. We could maybe also have special objects like chests that would give unique powerups when destroyed. I also want to add a kind of "sudden death" event when the game takes too long, maybe using the cannons in the original tileset (http://opengameart.org/content/bomb-party-the-complete-set) to fire bombs randomly from the sides. Then maybe some more characters could be useful, as the current ones are also IMO placeholders. We would need first to discuss the "personality" or looks of those characters before they are drawn. |
Perhaps a theme idea would be a good place to start. Do you have any ideas about things like colour palettes or general feel? Even just another game (of any genre) that you like the look of. Would it be too campy to do something like Super Tux Cart and use popular open source mascots? Things like Tux, Firefox, Pidgin. |
