There could be an option in folder settings to enable colored labels. It would allow the user to choose a different color for each label. However, there is a one thing that needs to be considered if colored labels are enabled in a folder, which is what to use for the accent color in that folder, and in its notes for like folder title, fab, cursor, highlight, etc...

Recently I was mulling over label colours, too, but from another perspective. My concern was distraction by colours. That doesn’t mean I’m averse to your proposal, not at all. But I’d bring in one more thing: customisable colours. That way each label could be provided a really unique colour (my most used folder has 29 labels) plus the growing group of people that’s easily distracted could tune label colors more towards the background colour, so labels don’t yell at them and their focus is more towards note titles while scrolling their notes.
But yes, that would also imply a separation of accent colour (and its derivatives) and label colours.
