Welp. I dropped SerialPop.exe into VirusTotal and it shows that SecureAge APEX and MaxSecure flag it as malware (but other 60+ antivirus software do not), are you using one of those? I googled the issue and it seems that this happens somewhat randomly. I have already submitted SerialPop.exe as a false positive for both. Meanwhile, I suggest you build the tag for the latest release (that's 0.3 at the moment) yourself, it should take only a few minutes. I don't have any better way to deal with this, sorry. I'm leaving this issue open for now, I'd like to hear which malware scanner are you using. |
Thanks for the reply. I'm using Malwarebytes, an app i pay subscription
to. I downloaded serialpop immediately as I like apps like this, but
the scant nature of the post on reddit made me question it's validity so
I scanned it.
I hope you resolve this, as it looks good.

I downloaded a trial version of Malwarebytes 4.x and scanned all the executables in the release, but it didn't show any threats. Which version are you using? And if it's not too much trouble, can you build the SerialPop 0.3 tag yourself, to see if the result still triggers MB? According to Malwarebytes submission guidelines I need to submit the scan log, but I can't since my MB 4 didn't flag anything as malware. I'm hoping that if you build the source yourself - and see that MB still flags it as malware - you'd be willing to submit SerialPop as a false positive, since I cannot. But I will completely understand if you feel like I'm asking for too much. |
I would like to use such a utility, but my Malware scanner rejects it. This is suspicious, sorry.
