Overlapping Edges in Vis.js 4.20.0 and later

When using any version beyond 4.20.0, i get overlapping edges for a simple hierarchical graphwith predefined levels, even though overlapping is avoidable in the graph. This was not the case until 4.19.0.
What is the problem?
