While this requires really specific circumstances (I can't think of any other than someone having rebound their media keys, which I did because it let me physically switch the keycaps to be placed normally), it does mean that as-is this behaves in a way that is clearly incorrect in a non-zero amount of environments, I can't tell why it uses it to begin with as I haven't noticed any manner of problem since removing it, but my best guess (to prevent bugs from rapidly pausing and resuming music) certainly doesn't need it.
