More Spotify effects.

Maybe I do ask for too much, but the Spotify effects are awesome. I mean the feature is far better then Rythm cause people talking in the room sometimes disturb the effect. But if you have some spare time would it be possible to make some Spotify effects? They can even be similar to the Rythm effects provided officially by Nanoleaf. I would try do it myself, but I'm don't have a lot of experience and am currently sitting on a demanding programming school project 🙄😂

I'm glad to hear that you like it!

In the past, the Spotify effects have been quite quick and fun to work on, and I'm still very much interested in developing this further. One of the main problems with the Spotify effects is that they are fairly limited by the data generated by Spotify; it's basically limited to beats. The other problem is the speed that the lights can be updated. I haven't been playing around with streaming on the Shapes for very long, but it seems that Nanoleaf added a limit on how fast you can send data on the Shapes. It may be possible to get around this, but idk yet. Feel free to suggest any effects that you would like to see added and I'll check them out when I have some time.

The effects are actually quite easy to make. All the effects are based on the SpotifyEffect class, and you can use any of the existing effects as a template. If you're interested in contributing, you can see how all the effects are implemented here. Also check out the Nanoleaf API here, and check here&here to see how the Spotify API organizes data. Let me know if you want some more info and I'll write up a section in the readme about creating custom effects. Finish your project first ofc :)

I had some free time, so I made a new Spotify effect called Swipe Beats. You can check out the beta here if you want to try it out. It's similar to the streaking notes effect, but all of the panels are activated and it can move in eight directions. It works better for slow or medium tempo songs (<140bpm).

By the way, in my testing this was one of the best songs I tried for showing off this effect.
