Hello I am very new to linux and have spent a lot of time trying to find out why I cannot seem to install reallymine. I have read/followed the wiki and multiple instructions for installing go on my linux 20.04 VM. I know I have go installed as I get a return when I verify version. But I can not seem to get reallymine installed.

I have a 2TB WD20ERS drive out of WD MY book Essential EXTHD 2T|WD WDBAAF0020HBK-NESN that has been removed from the enclosure and mounted to a ubuntu 20.04 VM with a generic USB data connector. I would love to get the drive decrypted and gain access to my files again.

Up till now I have done the following,

The WD enclosure was not stored correctly and had some bug infestation. I had cleaned the enclosure, the HDD board. Had to throw away the enclosure. Since then, I was able to buy a new compatible Hdd board and have swapped the BIOS/RAM chip. I mounted it in a new USB data enclosure and connected it to my MacOS. The disk is spinning normally. When connected to the MacOS it said "The Disk you attached was not readable by this computer". Since then I have,
Run "first aid" in macOS disk utility twice.
Created a ddrescue image of the disk.
From what I remember, I am pretty sure it was partitioned with different file systems, APFS, ExFat,Ntsf???

I read a bunch of issues here on GitHub and noticed that some asked for the following info. I hope this helps.

I would really appreciate it if someone can help me with the next steps. I am learning a lot about linux and about HD's. Thanks in advance.

Happy to report I figured it out. I was running the wrong name!. I was even able to get the image to write on my NAS. Did have a bit of trouble to figure out if it was actually working, Just kept looking at my imp file properties to make sure the size was increasing. So, lets see how long it will take. A status of the program working would be awesome.

OK, good.

The second sector that you dumped is clearly not the right one for your drive. Your keyblock should be one of these three:
3907026307
3907024904
3907029888

Thank you for your quick response. I apologize I am very new to this so, I really don't understand what you mean by the key block not being the right one. reallymine is currently still running and the img file size is at 5.9GB in about 15hrs, is this normal? or did it do something wrong?

@themaddoctor

What I mean is the when you dumped sector 3907024928 you got all zeroes, so that is not the key block.

Sounds like its working for you, but it will take a few days at this rate.

hmm, Maybe I did something incorrectly when I dumped those numbers. Yes, it seems like it is working but it is insanely slow. I am running reallymine on the original disk As I don't have a way to store 2 2TB images. Would it be faster if I was able to run reallymine on an image vs the original disk.

No, unless there are bad sectors.

When I ran DDRescue, it did not report any bad sectors. At this rate am assuming this will take about 20+ days. Thanks for helping me out.
