Mininum number of columns

Hi, we've been using this component for a while with success but I have a request for a layout which uses auto columns apart from below a certain breakpoint where the minimum number of columns should be two.

Does anyone have advice on the easiest way to accomplish this?

Notes:

• We use a grid layout across our site based on frs [fractions] so don't want to set a maxcolwidth in pixels.
• I've tried using CSS to override --_masonry-layout-col-count below our smallest breakpoint but it seems the other column calculations made by this component don't align with this. I.e., Two columns are present but the content only appears in one of them.
