Description
This single-image-to-PLY processing is very good, and the batch processing capability is also great.
However, there's still no simple solution on Mac for generating Gaussian Splatting from a sequence of images, even though ML-Sharp already does 80% of the job. It just needs to be able to work from multiple images into a single output, just like how Polycam works.
An interesting possibility here is that, since ML-Sharp can work with a single image, working with two or more images could only improve the result, so there would be no lower limit to the number of multiple images, it means the lower limit could be exactly 2. (Polycam requires a minimum upload of 15 images.)
- Sometimes we don't have ten+ images to process because the photos shot long ago, not prepared for a future. Even with 14 photos of something that can't be photographed anymore, 3DGS generation is doomed to failure.
- This would open up UNIQUE, UNPRECEDENTED OPPORTUNITIES for processing historical photos, where only a few photos are available of a historical location that exists no longer in its historical state.
Many thanks if you can solve this. There is a great demand for it.
