Performance of Rewrite Middleware #5981

Open
aspnet/Benchmarks
#2209

Description

@jkotalik

The whole rewrite middleware needs to be profiled. Specifically, checking for hotspots in the actual application of rules, which matters significantly more than startup time. Memory allocation should be checked too.

    Areas for examination:

    • what happens with large numbers of rules? Does the middleware hold up or does perf cripple the server?
    • what is the startup perf of adding large numbers of rules? (e.g. in theory, adding 10000 rules from a database).

    @jkotalik I'm gonn mark this as help wanted. It's a reasonable task for a contribution to add some benchmarks.
