hi! this is our sketch of proposite for the mascot :), we design this mascot because we want to respect the first idea and use an alien. We think that is adorable, funny and very easy for put in all the elements of merchandising, but we want your feedback for continue working on this or think other idea if you don´t like. :) |
@WeeProducciones I wonder if we can start a version without colors and just lines. Then add colors after we have a final candidate. And then put them in specific situations or placements once we have the mascot. I specifically like the way Fido Dido was conceived. It's a simple figure but then 7UP put it in multiple places and situations. It's always recognizable, independently of the artwork. |
@fmvilas and I spoke about fido dido concepts in the past, and I started drawing some ideas for how Eve could look based on this art style. Here are my initial iterations, hopefully this helps! |
Great, we can try these things that you tell us, fidodido is a pet that we love. |
yes, they have been our inspiration. now we are working on a new proposal more similar to Fido Did |
oh, interesting, Fido Dido seems strange for a mascot. It is kinda "long", which is I think hard to print on stickers and other stuff as then you need to make it big to show details. I hope you know what I mean. while you current approach based on "long"/"short" -> I'm referring mainly to legs that in case of Fido Dido make the figure, the mascot long, high. I'm not sure how to express it better 😅 I've never seen "long" mascots in tech |
What I meant proposing Fido Dido as an example is that it's easily recognizable, easy to adapt, etc. I didn't mean it has to be lines or it should look similar somehow. It's more about its traits than its appearance. I hope it clarifies things a bit. |
the intention is to work the cloud ship and maybe work the extremities |
some inspiration from https://chat.openai.com/ |

The 'this comment' and 'this comment' you mentioned redirected me to the beginning of the conversation. |

Poll Results Update Hi everyone, The community poll for the mascot designs is complete, and here are the results: Design 2 (B): 19 votes You can find the link to the voting conversation on Slack here. Next Steps |
Design 2 (B) received 23 votes in total; you didn't include the four votes from the general channel. You can find the details here on Slack. As for the poses, I think they look good overall. However, please improve the third pose (counting from left to right) for Eve. I believe you can be more creative with its appearance. |
Oh yeah, i missed the votes in the general channel. Thanks for the feedback on the poses. I'll adjust Eve's third pose and revert soon. |
Hi @Mayaleeeee, I've adjusted Eve's third pose. I'm working on a couple more poses of Eve and Chan together. I'll drop the designs before the week runs out. |
Hi @Mayaleeeee, I've added a couple more poses of Chan and Even together. If there are no more changes to be made, I'd like to go ahead and document the designs. |
Looks good 😍😍, you can go ahead with the documentation. Well done and thank you, @nwanduka |
Hi @Mayaleeeee I’ve completed the documentation. I split it into two parts:
I'm thinking it would be better to consolidate both the written and visual documentation into a single file within the brand repo on GitHub. That way, we have everything in one place for easier access and updates. What do you think? |
This Bounty Issue is in its final stages. Does anyone have remarks on it? https://www.figma.com/design/tgSuADGYTg8l4OS0Rjf9Hi/AsyncAPI-Designs https://docs.google.com/document/d/13HaG1ohETUHb9yYywdEP1149GsPQo7QbM8W53qfidpk |
Yeah, we can do that. |
However, we can add those images to Google Docs for better UX. I mean, if I'm reading about something, I would like to see the visual of that thing. |
if you do not want to store it in GitHub then please at least make sure there is a section in README with short intro and link. btw, super happy to see the new mascots, they are amazing!!! |

@nwanduka I just showed new mascots to my daughters. I know 11y olds are not a target for these mascots but anyway sharing their reaction: WOOOOOW!!!! |
This just made my day 😊 |
Awesome. I'll do that and create a PR. |
We won’t need Google doc anymore since I'll be transferring everything to Github, both the written content and the graphics. |
just a comment, outside the scope of this issue. Just few days ago somebody asked me: who is Eve and Chan (after getting sponsors prospectus with mascots in it). And I quickly explained. And answer was - I'd love to read the story. And you know what, not sure if you want or not, but if you decide to do it @nwanduka, to promote your work, asyncapi.com/blog will surely accept an article about the mascots. You would have to interview @fmvilas for some legacy knowledge about the old mascots, and where Eve and Chan names came from - but I think it will be a great story. anyway, just sharing, up to you what you will do with this knowledge |
I'm all for it 👍 |
I had thought about writing this, and now I have extra reason to. Besides promoting my work, I think it would really help AsyncAPI’s marketing efforts, and I genuinely believe it’ll make a great blog post. Since @fmvilas is up for it too, I’ll definitely reach out. Thanks for the nudge. |
lovely 🥰 and just sharing that the idea actually came from one of our AsyncAPI Ambassadors @hguerrero |
After a slight delay Bounty Issue Is Completed 🎉@nwanduka ( |
In this issue, we will discuss concepts for an AsyncAPI mascot.
Currently, we have Eve & Chan (their names represent
events
andchannels
)I think while the concept of them is cool, I feel that we need to simplify their illustrative details and perhaps create characters out of basic shapes (they will feel more like a flat graphical drawing with few curves and minimal shading/coloring)
Key Deliverables
Initial Sketches and Colour:
Develop unique and simplified sketches for both Eve and Chan.
Based on feedback and suggestions, refine 4 approved design concepts for Eve & Chan.
Create a colour palette for Eve & Chan. This palette should be simple and adaptable, ensuring that the characters fit seamlessly into various environments or contexts.
Pose Variations:
Documentation:
Document how the colour palette can be adjusted for different settings or branding needs while preserving the characters' core identity.
Provide descriptions of the pose and environment variations, explaining the choices made and how they contribute to the versatility and usability of the characters in different settings.
References:
The following references are to give us inspiration based on art style, not the actual character that is shown. We can use these drawings for inspiration to build the new look of Eve & Chan.
Reference 1: I enjoy the simple shapes and curves that this character has and the color palette is simple and adaptable for use in new environments.

Reference 2: Again, very simple shapes, colors, and facial expressions

Reference 3: These remind me a lot of Postman's "postmanaut", but I think we could potentially draw inspiration here from the body shape and translate that style to Eve & Chan fairly easily
