Overview

I encountered an issue today where new hosts and datastores were added to a VMware cluster without an expected Location custom attribute.

I reported the datastore and it soon "vanished" from the service account's view. This left just the new host without the expected Location attribute.

I'll likely report the host tomorrow and it too will no longer be visible. This will resolve the immediate problem.

Alternatively, I could also use the --ignore-missing-ca flag to sidestep the issue.

I checked the existing documentation for the check_vmware_hs2ds2vms plugin and I see options to:

  • ignore a CSV list of datastores
  • ignore a CSV list of virtual machines

I do not however see an option to ignore hosts.

I'll have to dig deeper to learn why I didn't add that functionality.
