Description
Describe the bug
When running DingTalk (an Electron-based Windows application) via Wine on GNOME, enabling Blur My Shell causes a persistent semi-transparent overlay ("frosted glass") to appear over the application window. This happens especially after maximizing and then restoring the window. The overlay remains even though the window contents are interactive, leading to a broken visual experience.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Enable Blur My Shell (default settings)
- Launch DingTalk via Wine (e.g.
wine DingTalkExecute.exe) - Maximize the DingTalk window
- Restore it to windowed mode
- Observe the blurred overlay persisting over the window
Expected behavior
The window should render normally without any unintended blur or overlay. Blur My Shell should not interfere with Wine-managed windows or Electron transparency layers.
Environment:
- OS: Debian-based (Kali Linux)
- GNOME Version: 48.3
- Blur My Shell Version: 69
- Wine Version: wine-10.0
- Display Server: X11
Additional context
- Disabling Blur My Shell resolves the issue immediately
- Disabling blur for DingTalk specifically (via custom CSS) also works
- Would be great to have a built-in exclusion mechanism for Wine/Electron windows
- DingTalk window class:
DingTalk(confirmed viaxprop)
