It appears the upstream oksvg has added some support for styles and style classes. https://github.com/srwiley/oksvg/blob/master/testdata/TopLevelStyle.svg?short_path=5d5e486

How difficult would it be to port that capability to this fork?

I'm not sure. I think I've followed upstream oksvg closely enough so that a PR could be adapted.
I can review if you want to try.
