@Enet4 seems an interesting point. At least, from the current use cases / scenarios, I'm not seeing a real benefit, as most of the current setting manipulation occurs only changing the files at bootstrap.
So, we could post-pone this decision/feature, if there is no real demand. What do you think?
I posted an issue here because I found a comment asking this very same question and I would prefer to have such questions tracked in here. I am working on a pull request which will also add a reference back to this issue. Other than that, it is not something I would prioritize at this time.
With that said, it may be best to keep the idea on hold until we find a legitimate use case for it.
