Before imaging or reimaging a Mac, ensure that it is in both WorkspaceOne and Apple School Manager. Currently, we can't do this, so ask someone else who can to do so. Once that's been done...

To image a new Mac:

  1. Boot the Mac into recovery mode. (With newer Macs, this is done by holding the power button for a VERY long time, then clicking on "Options". Older Macs required holding Command-R)
  2. Open the terminal, and run the following commands:
hdiutil attach http://macbootstrap.rit.edu
/Volumes/init/install

To reimage an old Mac:

  1. Boot into recovery mode.
  2. Open the terminal, and run the following commands:
hdiutil mount http://macbootstrap.rit.edu/mds
/Volumes/mds/run

To migrate data between Macs, you can go the easy route of using a thumb drive, or you can use the Apple Official solution, called "Migration Assistant".

  1. Make sure that both Macs are turned on, and connected to the interet.
  2. On both computers, press Command + Space, opening Spotlight search. From there, search for "Migration Assistant".
  3. Once there, follow the prompts, with the appropriate sides.
