Find any video, tap on it, and boom

Samsung Galaxy Note8, Android 9

What version of the app are you using?

Build version: 1.96.2.542; Bundle info: d38e985 (prod); Bundle date: 24122021; Platform: android; Platform version: 28

Exact same issue. Android 9, Samsung Galaxy S8. I think I also started experiencing it around late November 2024.

Happens 100% of the time without fail.

Build version: 1.96.2.542; Bundle info: d38e985 (prod); Bundle date: 24122021; Platform: android; Platform version: 28

There was a fix for an Android video crash in 1.96.3:

https://github.com/bluesky-social/social-app/releases/tag/1.96.3

So you might want to update your app to the latest version and see if you're still experiencing the issue.

1.96.3 was released on 2 January so you should definitely be able to update to it.

I switched to GitHub Releases version with updates via Obtainium (surprised that your app is not on F-Droid already!), but it's still strange that Google Play holds the update for more than two weeks...
