Star Ratings and Labels

Hi,

Im new user to try out PiGallery2 and have couple of questions. I installed PiGallery2 using docker container and it worked as expected.

1. In the demo site, it shows ability to 'star' rate or display labels. How do i enable this feature? I'm currently tagging faces and labels using DigiKam. Faces getting recognized within PiGallery2 along with their rectangle box
2. I want to exclude certain directorieswhich starts with .. i.e. .ite1 or .op2. Is that possible?
3. How do i install extensions? What is sample extension does? I copied sample extension's files into config/extension but dont see any changes. @mblythe86 , im particularly interested in digikam connector extension.
