I was randomly looking at my Home Assistant logs and saw the following entry.
2024-07-30 16:20:10.362 WARNING (Recorder) [homeassistant.components.sensor.recorder] Entity sensor.my_r1s_charging_energy_delivered from integration rivian has state class total_increasing, but its state is not strictly increasing. Triggered by state 51 (51.1) with last_updated set to 2024-07-30T23:15:47.147880+00:00. Please create a bug report at https://github.com/bretterer/home-assistant-rivian/issues
I believe this implies that the *_charging_energy_delivered is classified as a total_increasing metric, which means it's only every supposed to count up. (I think?) But seems as if it doesn't always behave that way?
Anyway, just logging an issue as instructed by HA 😄
