Currently, genes in the browser are displayed per their chromosomal coordinates. With this, genes on the + strand read left to right (5' to 3') and genes on the - strand read right to left (3' to 5').
From discussion in roadmapping, it may be more useful to normalize the display so that genes are always displayed in the 5' to 3' orientation, regardless of strand.
Independent of what is the made the default display, an option to show the gene in the 5' to 3' direction should be added as an option.
