It would be really nice to have an input meter directly in the main rack, so user could adjust source level at hardware side (soundcard preamp, virtual plugin... ) before turning any knob in Guitarix, in order to have a correct input level to work.
Presets have been designed to work with some amount of level, and depending of input level some of them could quickly overload hardware outputs, because they were designed with a too low input level, or because user input level is actually too loud.
The idea is to have just a meter with colored zones to make a quick adjustment. I know this purpose could be achieved inserting a Vumeter before the head rack, but I think a meter in the head rack could help users to have a good start before adding dozens of elements.
