Might be worth us discussing and making the course materials explicit about how equality of variance works for a paired t-test. It's contradictory to say that it is an assumption of the test, while also pointing out that the paired t-test is essentially just a one-sample t-test, because you can't test for equality of variance on a single set of numbers
