the current documentation for installing multipass (at https://canonical.com/multipass/docs/install-multipass) seems to imply that all Linux distros support snap, or that Linux distros that do not support snap do not support multipass. since multipass is open source, it seems there should be further documentation describing how to install from source, enabling the use of multipass without snap. please either provide documentation explaining the install process or update the documentation to clearly state that snap is required and multipass is not supported in distros without snap.

Hi @PatrickTague , the officially supported Multipass package for Linux is a snap.
Alternatively, as a developer or contributor, you can of course also build Multipass from the source code -- you can find instructions on the README file.
This mode is not included in the official documentation on purpose, so I'll close this issue.

@giuliazanchi there are no instructions to build from source on this page. i would strongly encourage adding a note that snap is the only supported install mechanism for Linux, since that immediately prevents direct use in some distros.
