Proton 8.0-5 appears to have fixed the gestures issue. I'm testing it and I'll report back in case it happens (consistently) again. |

The game needs to be run with Proton 8 to accept the keyboard input (this is an issue with Proton, not Steam's snap package). Other than that, it runs with the performance expected for the hardware, with or without gamemoderun.
When using gestures to switch to a different desktop environment, under GNOME Wayland (doesn't occur under an X11 session) the game can crash - it seems, due to the way Wine interprets the gestures from the compositor, but this is not a Steam snap package issue, either. There's a simple fix for it, though: running
xinput list --name-only | grep xwayland-pointer-gestures | xargs -n1 xinput disable
