Currently, delegates on Celo Mondo can display their names and delegate details, but there is no way to verify or showcase geographic distribution. This makes it difficult to understand the regional spread of governance participation and voting power across the Celo ecosystem.
Adding country verification during the delegate registration flow would provide a privacy-preserving way to show a delegate’s country without revealing any other personal data. This would also the community better understand and track geographic distribution in governance participation.
Solution
Integrate Self Protocol as an identity solution that allows delegates to opt in to proving their country of residence during registration. Verified delegates could display their country flag next to their name on the delegate list.
Additionally, the delegate list could include a map view showing the concentration of voting power by country. This would make it easy to visualize geographic distribution of governance participation and highlight opportunities for growth in underrepresented regions.
