Don't think that value is required, unless you have a strange config, but I guess it should be in the example.

Are there other optional settings?
This might translate to a documentation issue.
(If the config.py.example contains all possible settings, along with good comments, then I suppose we can call it self-documenting. I'm not sure the docs have a comprehensive rundown of the config.py settings.)
