There are some breaking changes in [email protected]
Does the team have a plan to adapt to these changes?

We will eventually, but given how different it is from v1, it's likely going to take quite a while before we can migrate to it.

Make Solana Rust Program Clients with Anchor+ Solana Web3.js 2.0 + Codama by Quicknode:

but somehow I could not get it to work...

The old Solana web3.js v1.xx repo has been archived. So it is really a good time to upgrade Anchor to the new v2.0.
