The address field, as useful as the Language and Country Repositories may be on the PHP end...
... is lacking some features in the backend.
In a Global Set "Configuration" I am able to mark an asset as "site-specific" by choosing "Manage relations on a per-site basis" under the asset fields "Advanced Settings" - for example for a company logo with a localized subline.
I wanted to do the same thing for a company address displayed in the sites footer.
Unfortunately, the field type Addresses does not have this option. I can only define how many addresses Min/Max I want to allow, modify how they are displayed. I was not able to find a workaround on how to allow an address field having a different address per-site.
That said, I managed to do what I wanted with a plain old custom field.
